biometric authenticatION AT WINDOWS login FAILS
If you cannot log into Windows due to a fingerprint error,
- Boot into Safe Mode, start EMBASSY Trust Suite
- Remove Secure Logon selection from the Windows Login Administrator Settings Section
- Reboot, log in with your password.
If you are not able to start EMBASSY Trust Suite in Safe Mode, please reference "Disabling the Wave Gina" to log on with a password. If you do not know your windows password, please contact your IT administrator for password assistance.
BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION WILL FAIL IF THE COMPUTER NAME, OPERATING SYSTEM, AND/OR THE UPEK DEVICE HAS BEEN CHANGED, OR THE HARDDRIVE HAS BEEN REFORMATTED.
The authentication process includes information from several credentials. In order to provide a secure authentication, changes in these areas will cause the process will fail.
RESOLUTION: Click here for instructions to Remove all fingerprints on the Harddrive and Upek reader , re-enroll and enable the secure windows logon. For assistance, or if you have any further concerns or questions, click here to submit a Wave Technical Support Request.
BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION FAILS WHEN USED FOR ANOTHER USER ACCOUNT- EACH FINGERPRINT ENROLLED IS EXCLUSIVE TO A SINGLE DOMAIN OR LOCAL USER ACCOUNT
Local accounts and domain accounts are considered separate user accounts, and the biometric files are not shared.
RESOLUTION: You must enroll fingerprints separately for these accounts. The upek device will not be able to differentiate user accounts, different fingers(we recommend at least 2) for each type of account must be enrolled.
BIOMETRIC ENROLLMENT REQUIRES A WINDOWS PASSWORD
Windows log in will allow a null (blank) password, however the Wave biometric login requires a password be set to authenticate with the biometric credentials.
RESOLUTION: Set a windows password, login to windows and enable the secure signon, with the authentication type being Password or Biometric (recommended). The initial logon will require both to secure the authentication between the two types, and subsequent logins will accept the fingerprint swipe.
BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION FAILS UNDER DOMAINS USING ROAMING PROFILES
The authentication credentials are located on the Upek device and the harddrive, which cannot be accessed when signed onto another computer using roaming profiles.
SOME DOMAIN POLICIES DO NOT ALLOW FOR BIOMETRIC WINDOWS LOGIN.
Check with your IT Administrator to confirm biometrics are permitted.
