3.5.5 Steps for Recovering from a TPM or Motherboard Failure
- Refer to the documentation that came with your system concerning replacing motherboard and/or TPM (or contact vendor from which you purchased the computer).
- Restart your system, and confirm that your data it's still available.
- You will need to follow the steps from "Steps for establishing TPM ownership".
- Follow the steps from "Steps to restore your TPM keys". Once the restore has completed the keys have now been restored for use by the new TPM.
Important Notes:
A new TPM or a TPM that has been reset to its original state - will need to be enabled and have ownership established.
The steps above assume that the hard drive containing system software and applications like the EMBASSY Security remained intact and undamaged during TPM or motherboard repair. If it did not, it may be necessary to follow the steps outlined in "Steps for Recovering from a Hard Drive Failure".
