Getting Started with the Trusted Platform Module
EMBASSY® Trust Suite for Dell — Client Usage Guidelines
Synopsis: This information describes the method to take ownership of the Trusted Platform Module on supported Dell platforms. For instructions on how to turn on and enable the TPM click here.
User Scenarios:
User has a Dell platform and wishes to take ownership of TPM security. For a list of compatible Dell Systems click here.

Take Ownership of TPM
Latitude E-Series, Optiplex and Precision Machines
Local administrative rights are required for the steps below:
- Open Dell ControlPoint.
- Click Security Manager.
- Click Manage Security.
- Next to ‘Trusted Platform Module', click Settings. This launches EMBASSY Security Center.
- Click the Manage tab.
- Click Establish to establish ownership of the TPM.
- Create and confirm the TPM Owner Password, click OK.
- After a brief pause, a confirmation dialog will appear communicating the successful establishment of ownership of the TPM.
Vostro Notebooks
Local administrative rights are required for the steps below:
- From the Start menu, click Programs > Dell ControlPoint > Security Manager > Advanced > EMBASSY Security Center.
- Click the Trusted Platform Module tab.
- Click the Manage tab.
- Click Establish to establish ownership of the TPM.
- Create and confirm the TPM Owner Password, click OK.
- After a brief pause, a confirmation dialog will appear communicating the successful establishment of ownership of the TPM.
Latitude D-Series Notebooks
Local administrative rights are required for the steps below:
- From My Computer, launch ‘C:\Program Files\Wave Systems Corp\EMBASSY Security Center\EmbassySecurityCenter.exe'.
- Click the Trusted Platform Module tab.
- Click the Manage tab.
- Click Establish to establish ownership of the TPM.
- Create and confirm the TPM Owner Password, click OK.
- After a brief pause, a confirmation dialog will appear communicating the successful establishment of ownership of the TPM.
